Usual early post-procedural imaging appearances following extracorporeal shock wave lithotripsy (ESWL) in a 51-year-old male with a 12-mm stone in the left renal pelvis detected by preoperative unenhanced multidetector CT (MDCT, A). Twenty-four hours after ESWL, repeat MDCT (B, C) was requested because persistent flank pain showed a ureteral stent in place, residual stone fragment in the lower pole calyx (arrowhead in B), minimal perirenal fluid (*) and ipsilateral fascial effusion (arrow in C), and thickened urothelium of the renal pelvis (thin arrow in C). Afterwards, the patient experienced an uneventful postoperative course
