WE-MDCT without bowel preparation shows severe mural thickening of the sigmoid colon (a) with mildly increased density of the perivisceral fat (*) and multiple diverticula, at least one of which shows an enhancing wall consistent with acute inflammation (arrowheads). Perforation and extraintestinal abscesses are excluded, allowing conservative treatment
