Appearance of a fibrotic metastasis from non-otherwise specified (NOS) rectal cancer in a 54-year-old female patient. Gadobenate dimeglumine-enhanced fat suppressed gradient recall echo T1-weighted images obtained during portal venous (a) and delayed (3 min) (b) phases showed a 120 mm lesion in the right liver lobe characterized by a progressive enhancement of the central part, consistent with fibrotic tissue (arrows). The lesion showed central contrast retention on hepatobiliary phase images obtained after 120 min (c) (arrow) and a peripheral hypointense rim (arrowhead) corresponding to the “target appearance.” Gross pathology and histology analysis (d) confirmed the presence of large areas of necrosis and fibrotic bands (arrows) intermingled within the lesion; note the pushing proliferative pattern with peripheral tumoral growth (arrowheads)
