Unilateral left renal outflow obstruction from pelviureteric junction obstruction (PUJO) in a foetus at 21 weeks gestation, after termination of pregnancy. Post-mortem imaging was performed 10 days after delivery. The sagittal post-mortem ultrasound image of the left kidney (a) demonstrates a dilated renal pelvis, with only a thin rind of renal cortex stretched around the pelvis. The same finding is shown on the post-mortem T2-weighted MRI image in coronal plane (b), and a normal right kidney is demonstrated. A photograph of the extracted kidneys and ureters at autopsy (c) confirm the imaging findings of a much larger and dilated left kidney, with normal right kidney
