Contrast-enhanced fat-suppressed T1-weighted coronal image of the hand of a 35-year-old male with psoriatic arthritis and dactylitis of the second digit. MRI demonstrates periostitis of the proximal phalangeal bone with thickening and enhancement of the periosteum (white arrows) and osteitis (asterisks). These changes are associated with synovitis of the metacarpophalangeal and proximal interphalangeal joints (black arrows). The connective tissue located at the interfaces between tendons, joint capsules and bone is also involved (arrowheads)
