Small-bowel dilation due to an adhesion in a patient with abdominal pain. There is an abrupt narrowing and acute angulation of the loop, with no identifiable underlying lesion (arrow). There is also ascites (star) and mesentery densification due to edema (arrowheads), findings suggestive of strangulated obstruction
